About me
Sorkio is Kurdish and was born in Kurdistan in 1987. Sorkio completed his education in Iraq and started helping out with a family friend in their local furniture business. This is where Sorkio discovered his interest in carpentry. From that time on, Sorkio loved working with wood.
Sorkio came to Britain in 2003. Sorkio started learning about English carpentry methods at Bridge Training and was highly commended in the work that he did gaining the first of his many qualifications, from the NCFE. After Bridge Training, Sorkio progressed to Gloucester’s local college, Gloscat in order to learn carpentry and furniture making.
This was a full time course that Sorkio attended for 2 years during which time he became qualified in fine furniture making.
Sorkio excelled at college, enjoying the challenge of learning in his second language and he loved being surrounded by English students, learning lots from his colleagues and tutors.
This course was a huge success and Sorkio passed all of his exams, collecting many certificates of excellence and achievement along the way.
Sorkio still attends Gloscat and has also gained qualifications in IT as well as continuing to improve his language skills.
Earlier this year, Sorkio attended the Prince’s Trust New Business Course where he gained all the knowledge that he needed to set up his own business.
The result of this was Furniture By Sorkio.
